Beat The Winter Blues

The summer is nearly over and we will soon be in the lead up to all things rainy, cold and festive! Luckily for those winter weather haters, we have hand picked out the top 3 holiday destinations for a warm winter break.

So for those of you experiencing severe summer holiday blues or those of you who want to avoid cracking out the thermal clothing, read on for location inspiration for your winter holiday.

Turkey

Travelling to Turkey in winter will allow you to enjoy the comfortable temperature in a quieter location while still receiving the same level of hospitality from the friendly Turkish staff. Antalya, Bodrum, and Dalaman are the hottest places which are still suitable for beach holidays. Those of you who who are looking for a cooler break, try Istanbul and Ankara.

If you're a history buff, Istanbul and Bodrum are ideal for sightseeing with Istanbul being home to: St. Sophia’s Cathedral, the famous Grand Bazaar, the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace. Not forgetting the Bodrum Amphitheatre, Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, and for those of you with children there’s scuba diving, wild water sports and waterslides at the Aqua Park in Antalya. In the month of October and onwards, the average temperature is 20 degrees with around 11 hours of sunshine. Travelling to Turkey in the winter months can also be cheaper due to it being out of the holiday season.  If trying out different cultures is you thing, then why not relax in a Turkish mud bath or soak in a mineral pool at the cotton castle!

Crete

If in the winter you do not necessarily want a hot sunny holiday, you just want a week away, Crete is the place to go. You should prepare for winds and rain as well as some sunshine. You will not see sunshine everyday however when you do it will give you the opportunity to see the bright side of the beautiful island. Whether you see colder weather as a good or bad thing, one advantage guaranteed is the fact the island is completely uncrowded.

Due to the chillier weather, there won't be much chance of you sun bathing so luckily the Greek island is packed full of historical attractions for you to explore. It is recommended that you hire a car while you enjoy the laid back atmosphere of the island, making sure you have chance to visit the small villages, museums, shops and the most beautiful part of the island, the snow-capped mountains. If you don’t want to spend all your time sightseeing, don't worry - Crete has some activities perfect for families with the island’s four, massive waterparks; Limnoupolis, Water City, Star Beach and Acquaplus and for fish fans there’s the Cretaquarium.

For the days when you want to take a break from topping up your tan (to make your friends and family back home jealous), you can take to the sea and go on a glass bottomed boat or go scuba diving in some coveted dive sites in the world

You will not be short of activities either. Choose to enjoy Egypt open all year Cleopark water park or if you want to throw yourself into the ancient culture of the island, take a trip to famous Giza Pyramids, Cairo or the Egyptian Museum.
